Writer's picture: Deana BrownDeana Brown

When looking at splitting investments in your divorce, consider using percentages instead of fixed dollar amounts. The reason being is that investment values change day to day. If you settle on a fixed dollar amount instead of a percentage then you could lose out on the appreciation if the market goes up from the time you agree to when you actually get the assets in your own name.
